ESG funds have grown steadily since the term was first coined in 2005. With each passing year more and more assets flow into ESG funds.

To date, there hadn’t been significant regulation from the SEC, so it was possible to find a company within an ESG fund that wasn’t necessarily a top steward of ESG principles.
