Kathryn Morrison is the founder of SunStar Strategic, beginning this practice by working with a broad section of mutual funds while Director of Public Information Services at the Investment Company Institute. SunStar Strategic specializes in attracting investors and building brands for financial services and renewable energy companies. Dan’s expertise spans the mutual fund and asset management industry. He is a specialist in distribution, sales and marketing. He was one of fewer than 200 executives in the industry nominated to be considered for MFWire’s 2009 list of Most Influential People in Fund Distribution. He is also familiar with the legal, regulatory and compliance issues facing clients. Dan has been instrumental in helping smaller or lesser known firms develop strong distribution programs, as well as helping larger firms support and energize their sales teams.

Bob is from the Midwest and received his BA from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. WI. In his free time Bob enjoys biking and reading esoteric books. He recently realized his dream of building a unique getaway cabin in West Virginia using all natural local materials, including green white oak, adobe and dry stack mountain stone.
Katie joined SunStar Strategic with experience in marketing, communications and journalism. She has worked with newspapers, non-profits and agencies to plan and organize events, coordinate donors and volunteers and strengthen clients’ presence in the marketplace through social media and traditional media outlets. Katie has an MA in Public Communication from American University, Washington, D.C. She received her BA in English/creative writing and psychology from Sweet Briar College, Sweet Briar, VA, where she also had the opportunity to study English literature and history abroad in Oxford, England.
Katie is an avid equestrian and competed at the collegiate level.
Operations Manager & Partner
Sue's role at SunStar Strategic is essential to the day-to-day operation of the firm; however because her work is very much "behind the scenes" clients may not always be familiar with her. She works closely with the firm’s executives to ensure that SunStar Strategic has the operational systems in place to fully support the firm’s clients and staff. She also has the listening skills necessary to facilitate constructive interactions among a team of passionate, independent executives. Sue received her BS and MS in speech-language pathology from Towson University, Towson, MD. Early in her career she worked with inner-city children as a speech-language consultant to the Baltimore City Head Start program. She is originally from England and travels there every so often to visit family and brush up on her British accent.

Marilyn brings a wealth of industry experience in financial services of nearly 30 years. For eight years, as the director of marketing at Calamos Investments, she created marketing and communications targeted to financial consultants and the investing public for institutional, separately managed individual accounts and a family of mutual funds. Previously, her banking career included management positions in trust, corporate cash management and retail banking at Bank of America, First Chicago Bank, NA and a Chicago-suburban bank chain. With a unique blend of industry knowledge with a flair for design and copy writing, Marilyn helps create marketing strategies as well as execute marketing plans resulting in print and digital campaigns. With her Creative Services team of graphic designers, writers and programmers, SunStar Strategic has designed websites, brochures, newsletters, e-news, fact sheets, sell sheets and other collateral materials. She is well-versed in FINRA regulations and compliance issues.
Marilyn has an MBA from the University of Illinois in Chicago specializing in marketing and finance and earned a BA magna cum laude/Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Illinois, Urbana, IL , where she is recognized on the Bronze Tablet honoring graduates ranking in the top 3% of their class. She also attended the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Colorado, Boulder, CO, ranking in the top five of her class and has earned a Series 6 license.
Marilyn also manifests her creativity as a professional fine artist and holds a Certificate in Painting from Chicago’s School of the Art Institute. She has large scale stained glass and fabric installations at several churches in the Chicago area and the east coast. A vibrant member of her community and past president of the Naperville Art League, she has shared her talents as an art teacher to the mentally handicapped as well as in the continuing education department of North Central College, Naperville, IL. Kerri joined the SunStar Strategic Creative Services team bringing project management skills from her broad experience across a variety of industries over nearly two decades, most recently in market research. She has strong planning and organizational skills and is particularly attuned to tracking details to bring success to complex projects, on deadline and within budget. Previously, he worked as a business development manager for an international trade and development company, dealing with manufacturing companies. Prior to this, he developed power engineering knowledge while working for an engineering firm, where he coordinated projects with various energy utility companies. Milin received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA and has an MBA from the George Washington University in Washington, DC with concentrations in finance and international business.

Jeren works with investment management clients to develop and execute effective public relations and communications strategies. Jeren joined SunStar Strategic after completing her MBA degree at the Kogod School of Business, American University in Washington, D.C. Prior to that, Jeren was an account executive at a large, publicly-traded commercial finance company. In this role, she maintained, monitored and serviced a multi-million dollar portfolio of real estate loans, including being responsible for analyzing the financial health of the borrowers on an ongoing basis. Jeren also has experience in international development through her previous position with a large, nonprofit organization that supplies monetary grants to countries all over the world.
Jeren earned her BBA in finance and international business from the George Washington University, Washington, D.C. Jeren is originally from Turkmenistan; her native language is Russian, and she has a basic knowledge of Turkmen. In her free time, she enjoys fitness activities and is studying French and Spanish.

Prior to joining the SunStar Strategic team, Hibre spent a year in China exploring Chinese business culture.
